Should I bring my own firewood if I'm camping at Acadia National Park?
No. If you plan on camping during your visit to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine, do not bring your own firewood. Wood brought from other areas may contain non-native species of insects and and other plants that could put the carefully balanced natural resources of the park in jeopardy. Instead, you can buy local firewood when you arrive to the area. Two of the most dangerous insects to the nation's national parks are the Asian longhorned beetle and the emerald ash borer. Both are easily spread through firewood and they have the potential to damage healthy trees.
