Sporting and Recreational Events and Festivals in Whistler, B.C.

The Whistler Blackcomb ski resort in British Columbia features numerous resources for winter sporting enthusiasts who want to hone their technique or simply enjoy themselves. Additionally, you'll be able to enjoy the numerous competitive sporting events and festivals in Whistler, B.C. You can test your abilities against other athletes, or simply enjoy watching some of the most skilled skiers and snowboarders show off their talents.

Ski and Snowboard Races at Whistler Blackcomb

Numerous winter sport racing events take place each year at the Whistler Blackcomb resort. Some of these are: • British Columbia Freestyle Provincial Championships: Various freestyle ski clubs compete against each other in mogul, pipe, slopestyle and dual mogul categories. • Disabled Ski Association of British Columbia Provincial Championships: Taking place in March, this race is exclusively for disabled skiers. • Mum's Mountain Classic: an April Whistler ski race for mothers and grandmothers of all ages • The Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Cross: This event is scheduled for three two-day periods in January, February and March of each year. Skiers and snowboarders in various age groups and skill levels, including winter athletes 10 and under, compete on the resort's Nintendo Terrain Park course. Participants register for the race on a first-come, first-serve basis, and helmets are required.

Mountain Biking Races and Events at Whistler

Whistler Blackcomb's mountain bike park hosts a number of competitive mountain biking events. • Kokanee Crankworx: a nine-day festival where professional mountain bikers compete in various categories, where speed, endurance and inventive stunts are separately tested • The Bike Bash: Inaugurating the summer off-season at Whistler, this festival features manufacturers demonstrating new bikes, contests, sales, and other activities. • The Crud 2 Mud Downhill: This event works in the manner of a biathlon. Competitors begin at the top of the mountain and ski or snowboard their way to the bottom as fast as possible. As soon as racers reach the foot of the mountain, they immediately pick up their bikes and ride through the bike park on a winding, challenging trail.

Other Festivals and Events

The TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival is a ten-day festival in mid-April, where skiing, snowboarding and the arts come together. Outdoor concerts, film and photography exhibitions and competitions in Whistler B.C. featuring world-class athletes are just a few of the activities at this annual event.
