Dialysis technicians operate hemodialysis machines and perform other tasks associated with dialysis treatment. Dialysis is an artificial way of cleaning the blood for patients who suffer from kidney failure. Technicians typically transport a patient to the machine room, set up the machine and prepare the patient for treatment. During dialysis, the technician will monitor the patient's vital signs and assist in any emergency situation if complications arise. Dialysis technicians typically work in hospitals, clinics or nursing homes.
